What I realized last night is that there are a couple of Martha’s Perfect Palettes in the bunch that I haven’t labelled by their fancy-pants “Marigold and Pewter” (Melanie + Jake and Bonnie + Clyde) or “Emerald and Aqua” (Holly + Paul) so I need to go do that. You’ve all seen Martha’s Perfect Palettes, right? There are 21 now (which is more than I thought) but they still don’t update terribly often.

But… enter J Crew. WHOSE COLORS I FRIGGIN LOVE. I’m currently mildly obsessed with their “Neon Azalea”/”Neon Flamingo” (although why two names?) tanks and sweaters and their “Smoldering Brick” which is a bright saturated orange. Especially when either is paired with navy. Anyway, while I was wandering through their site yesterday I happened upon:

I can’t find any previous “Mad about hue” color combos but I feel like they’ve had them before. Maybe I’m just thinking of the Jenna’s Picks section and this is the first color combo gallery. Either way I hope they continue this!

Also I realized I’ve only posted some of the awesome color combinations The Future Mrs. Darcy brides have come up with on our facebook page.

First we have Britni and Chase with their hot pink and tangerine Sloane + Ferris invitations:

And unfortunately there’s many more I still need to take photos of! But I’m planning to start a massive photographic undertaking (so the photos look less crappy than the above!) and am slated to start the process talking it through with Brandy of Modern Toile Photography today.

Isn’t it gorgeous?! Our girl, Shannon, knew what she wanted. Before we got started she sent me a pdf with example of birch trees she likes (simple and slightly abstract), what kind of birds she wanted (graphic and not too cartoon-y) and this lovely palette:

And she Canadian so she has a “u” in colour. Swoon. I wish I could write it like that and not look desperate. So, anyway, the above ideas were stirred (not shaken) and we ended up with a darling little invitation.

The RSVP is a little hard to read in the photo but it says

Will be there with bells on!
Will be there free of bells
Will be there, undecided on bells
Will not be there, heard there will be people wearing bells
Will not be there regardless of the bell controversy

Did I mention Shannon was in advertising? Indeed, folks. Very clever.

And I also LOVE color names which is why my office ended up Celtic Gray (back walls) and Firelight (bookcases). The sloped walls are chalkboard paint in Charcoal.

I was driving the other day and these ads for Indian Tourism and nearly ran off the road.

Especially the last two. Would you feel free-er if someone ask you what your wedding colors and you could say “Watercolours” or “Technicolour”? It wasn’t until I was through with my planning that I thought– there really wasn’t any reason I should have stuck to green and white and black. I could have thought “Deep in the forest” or “Dingle Penisula Landscapes” and maybe come up with more cohesive ideas.

So again, keep thinking and think different.
