This is the first “leafy” one that I had mentioned. I think I want to do as few real-life couples so Paul + Joanne is not an option anymore but I thought of two possible names but feel free to suggest new ones!

It’s just an invitation for the moment, I still need to do the RSVP but after some back and forth on the script font and the colors with a bunch of very helpful friends, I chose the font I originally liked best and changed up the colors and TA-DA!

This works perfectly for vineyard/winery weddings (as it was designed for a vineyard wedding), weddings in old ivy covered buildings, outdoor weddings, weddings you wish could be outdoors but you really don’t want to go head to head with Mother Nature, and more!

I’ll let you know when the RSVP is ready for debut!

I will let you know that the ideas that were rolling around for a Bella + Edward invitation forever ago have gotten a bit of brilliance from a bride getting married at a planetarium whose colors are– are you ready– an ombré navy black to blues to nude. It’s frickin’ amazing. I want everything to be this night sky ombré now. Not sure if it will actually end up named “Bella + Edward” though- do you think that will turn some people off? Anyway, you will want to make out with this invitation though, it’s fabulous, but still in the works so… sorry.

Another bride is going for the Lois + Clark invitation in PERSIMMON. Persimmon, I have recently learned, is the BEST way to ask for orange. Love it.

Then I have a couple who’s having the Alice in Wonderland party invitations turned into wedding invitations. The brand new RSVP features a stack of teacups that I find quite adorable.

And to top it off- I need to photography the Bogey + Bacall invitations and the Elvis + Priscilla invitations for Invitation Crush Wedding Ideas Lookbook! Yowza!

But remember our nature sneaky peeks? I think we’ve figure our path for those invitations which means one is now up for grabs! I’m running two last details by some lovely ladies but then I’ll have the grand reveal!

What is that I hear? Are you all making up words that combine retro, fabulous, glamorous, fun, art deco and wedding invitations? Retroglamfabfundeco invites indeed.

And I was so super excited about that that I made some Lois and Clark RSVPs to match the long lost invitations so check that one off the list!

And remember waaaay back when when we were trying to name that winter wonderland invitation? I’m sticking with Jovie and Buddy from The Elf for now since everyone seems to hear The Elf and think “Baby, It’s Cold Outisde” which, as we all remember, was the inspiration for the invite so BOOM! BAM! DONE!

And the cherry on top? They’ve all been added to the “Love Stories” section so they have their larger image and you can easily bookmark them AND they’ve all been added to Etsy which is my go-to place for you to buy samples.

I love them all so. I think I was debating another 10 or so but we must be slightly thrifty, n’est pas?

And for something completely different, if you have time and haven’t seen it yet Jamie Oliver’s TED Talk is kind of awesome. We saw it when it came out then watched his show on ABC which I now know is backwards chronologically (but that’s neither here nor there) and, though the show was interesting, the TED Talk gets to the point. And even if you don’t agree/care, who doesn’t love 20 minutes of english accent?

Isn’t it gorgeous?! Our girl, Shannon, knew what she wanted. Before we got started she sent me a pdf with example of birch trees she likes (simple and slightly abstract), what kind of birds she wanted (graphic and not too cartoon-y) and this lovely palette:

And she Canadian so she has a “u” in colour. Swoon. I wish I could write it like that and not look desperate. So, anyway, the above ideas were stirred (not shaken) and we ended up with a darling little invitation.

The RSVP is a little hard to read in the photo but it says

Will be there with bells on!
Will be there free of bells
Will be there, undecided on bells
Will not be there, heard there will be people wearing bells
Will not be there regardless of the bell controversy

Did I mention Shannon was in advertising? Indeed, folks. Very clever.

You know how much trouble I have sometimes assigning couples after the fact (like for custom brides but never fear I already have Shannon and Jason on the case for the design they picked which I already know you will totally love so stay tuned in the next couple of weeks for that) but this one I stared at for a minute and was like “Uh-doi. Charlie Brown”. I was pretty sure good ol’ Charlie had a thing for the Little Redheaded Girl but I wanted to double check and I found out this from wikipedia:

A former coworker, Donna Johnson, was Schulz’s inspiration for the character.^[1] A 1947 high school graduate, Johnson was working in the accounting department of the Art Instruction, Inc., a correspondence school where Schulz worked. Johnson and Schulz eventually became romantically involved and dated for three years, but in 1950 when Schulz proposed to her, she refused him, ended the relationship and abruptly married fireman Allan Wold on October 21, 1950. Schulz was devastated, but he and Johnson-Wold remained friends for the rest of his life.

Said Schulz of the relationship, “I can think of no more emotionally damaging loss than to be turned down by someone whom you love very much. A person who not only turns you down, but almost immediately will marry the victor. What a bitter blow that is.”^[2] This experience became arguably the most poignant of all story lines for the entire Peanuts strip.

So for this upcoming Valentine’s Day I thought it’s only right that Charlie FINALLY gets his girl. I think we’d all agree that “The Little Redheaded Girl” is probably a little longer than more names on an invitation but, thankfully, in the 1977 animated TV special It’s Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown Linus lets us know that her name is, in fact, Heather.

Also if you’d like this more for a wedding shower or save the date, just let me know. When it came time for Stefanie’s (whose invitation became Ariel + Prince Eric) bridal shower she told me how much she liked the Holly + Paul invitation so we changed the info and voila! bridal shower invitation.

And if you like the details these are pretty easy to figure out. I chose “Schulz” as Heather’s last name after the Peanut creator Charles Schulz. The wedding takes place on Valentine’s Day since so many of Charlie Brown Valentine’s Day efforts were for the Little Redheaded Girl, and the reception is in Woodstock after Snoopy’s little bird friend, Woodstock.

When Meredith contacted me about doing her invitations this is how she described her wedding:

It will be an outdoor wedding at my parents home in Texas under a large live oak tree, that is the focus of the wedding. The wedding is going to be based on the Southern Comfort theme, home style food and beverage, all out doors with natural light and floral of the season with the colors being marigold and pewter.

I loved the marigold and pewter spread from Martha Stewart Weddings and after working with Meredith and hearing more about her wedding I was really excited how the invitations turned out.

All the photos were taken by their Jenny McCann, a portrait photographer serving Dallas/Fort Worth who specializes “in portraits of children, families and really cool people.”¬† She has more photos of Meredith and Patrick’s wedding on her blog (including a great slideshow) and from the 3 emails we sent back and forth for me to get the photos I can tell you that not only is she very talented but nice and easy to get in touch with too!

So, now we’ve seen the invitations, the newlyweds get a first crack at naming them but feel free to influence them as much as you’d like in the comments!

When I start custom invitations (or really any design work) I talk everything over with the client about what they’re looking for and then I create around 3 designs as a jumping off point. Usually one will stand apart from the pack in my mind but for the most recent custom designs- I loved them all which is GREAT because now you all get 3 new designs coming your way.
