Hope all of you have a wonderful holiday week celebrating whatever you celebrate even if it’s just being off work for a week!

There was dissension among my polling group which “Festivus” really captured feats of strength and airing of grievances so I’m going with both. No decision is the best decision!! YAY!

Now, if you’d like to change the text to “Merry Christmas”, “Happy Holidays”, “Happy Hanukkah”, “Send Presents to the Return Address” or whatever you’d like, that is of course fine.

I think I’ll have these printed at Bay Photo along with photo cards so it would be $50 for a pack of 25 5×7 folded cards (which includes envelopes).

*Festivus is, of course, from Seinfeld. If you need a refresher on Festivus check out it’s page on wikipedia**.

**Did you know Ben and Jerry’s had a Festivus flavor?! It was apparently made of brown sugar ice cream laced with gingery caramel and chewy chunks of gingerbread. Why am I finding out about this when it is gone?

As you can see the image can be switched out to whatever you loved the most from 2010 or whatever you want to show off to the relatives.

Available in packs of 25 for either 5 x 7 folded cards (in case you want to write a message inside) or 5 x 7 flat cards (because you have too many cousins for all that writing!) for $50 a pack (either option includes a mailing envelope). As shown in the different photos above, text can be changed to reflect your image.

That’s our happy little holiday card this year!

Now you can probably file this under ” a day late and a dollar short” but let me tell you a little something about labels. We have a list of names and address from our wedding that we now use each and every time we need to send our a mailing. Poor Brandy who was so ahead of the game in Xmas Cards this year told me her harrowing tales of writing out her addresses in cursive followed by a crazed facebook post about how she liked all her friends in Illinois a little less because of capital cursive “I”s.

Now after writing the same thing twice my handwriting slips from nice to serial killer, so I made me some nice little coordinating labels and those puppies were in and out the door in under 12 hours and only took about a half an hour to get addresses and sealed.

So the moral of the story is, if you want coordinating labels to go with ANYTHING you see on TFMD or anything you see anywhere– just let me know– I can save your pretty little hands from seizing up into claws!

And though it’s completely unrelated I came across this bridesmaid dress company today– Quail– and LOVE IT. Makes me want to be excessive and buy a fancy New Year’s Eve frock.

So I bring you what will hopefully be the first in a long line of sweet collaborations: custom holiday cards.

You send me your holiday photo OR if you live in the Metro DC area contact Brandy for a portrait session (maybe combine it with an engagement session- can you say two birds with one stone?!) and a brief list of what you did this year and plan to do next year and voilà- you just earned yourself another eggnog for being so proactive.

I had a bell quote floating around my head and I went with “The bell still rings for me, as it does for all who truly believe” from the Polar Express but after it was posted I remembered the one I REALLY wanted to use “All that the children could hear was the ringing of bells” from Dylan Thomas’ A Child’s Christmas in Wales (which his read of is just about my favorite thing to listen to around Christmas despite the fact it’s about 20 minutes long).

Back up to this past weekend where my last pairs of flip flops and more of our couch were half destroyed by the little pup and — light bulb– we have an idea. The only issue was I really expected the images to be of older kids. All the families were of a Mom, Dad and wee baby. Maybe it’s just my family but all the Christmas cards we get are of various school age children and/or pets so I had to adjust and use our pup. Whew!

Anyway, as always, if it doesn’t win, in 90 days I can sell it myself AND as a matter of fact, putting up all old minted non-winners onto etsy and hopefully the new site is one of my goals for this week! But hopefully it’ll just win.

And NOW I think I’ll get some of that food and tea I was thinking about 2 hours ago.
